    Overview

    The Manufacturing Process Specialist will ensure that all through-hole related, PC board production equipment is being operated properly and is maintained in proper operating condition. This position will be hands-on and in collaboration with the Process Engineering and Production teams to help establish and maintain key manufacturing processes on the plant floor. This includes being a technical leader for equipment programming, operation, maintenance and operator training of the equipment utilized in the manufacturing processes. You will participate in conducting first article EWO approvals and in debugging of process parameters and assembly equipment programs to ensure all new designs adhere to a repeatable and defect free process. Will participate in identifying new requirements and resolving complex technical issues related to the primary responsibilities.  

    Responsibilities

    • Provide support and service for the selective solder machine operation
    • Provide support and service for the PC board depanel machine operation
    • Provide technical support for various electronic components processing equipment
    • Maintain proper maintenance procedures of production machines and tools
    • Perform advanced level of maintenance and service during scheduled down times
    • Assist in programming specialized process equipment to support PCB production
    • Work with equipment vendors to identify and select new equipment and methods
    • Assist the production and engineering teams with first article process validation
    • Maintain process documents related to PCB assembly processes and equipment
    • Assist in the development and maintenance of assembly aids and fixtures for production use
    • Recommend product design changes that affect process and quality improvement
    • Engage in process improvement activities to improve methods and eliminate bottlenecks
    • Participate in continuous improvement and lean manufacturing practices
    • Maintain a safety-first working environment around equipment the throughout the plant
    • Other related duties as assigned

    Qualifications

    • Associate level technical degree
    • Min 5 years of experience in operating and maintaining PCB assembly equipment
    • Proven problem solver with technical decision making skills
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Office
    • Knowledge of CAD
    • Excellent oral and written communications skills
    • Ability to work in a collaborative team environment is a must
    • Ability to adapt and learn in a fast paced environment
    • Strong mechanical aptitude

    Supervision received:

    Work independently or part of a team to complete task and projects. Receive high level training from senior engineering staff and external vendors as well.  Work is assigned by senior staff and manager, as well as requests for assistance from production staff.  All high level documentation work is reviewed by senior staff and manager when required. Resolve production issues daily and update documentation independently.

    Complexity of the Work:

    In-depth understanding of production machinery and tooling. Programming of automated process equipment and support while intermittently having to troubleshoot the same equipment. Work with new circuit board designs to asses and improve manufacturability. Perform profiling and introduction of new design programs on soldering machinery and monitor the implementation of new component prep tooling. Some working knowledge of Microsoft office and understanding of CAD based engineering software.

    Working Conditions:

    Manufacturing facility floor area with majority of focus on supporting Production machinery and assembly process validation.  Some cubicle work area with engineering grade computer with all the required software to document the PCB assembly process and troubleshooting process equipment. A portion of the day is spent at the work station and significant time is spent on the production floor interacting with machine operators and supervisors.
