    Overview

    Crestron is seeking an Electronics Engineer to perform failure mode analysis of commercial electronic devices, with the goal of uncovering design and manufacturing flaws in order to drive quality improvement. This position will draw heavily on expertise in digital and analog circuitry, especially in regards to diagnosing and/or recreating faults. The candidate should be very comfortable analyzing schematics and part documentation so as to diagnose the often subtle potential and actual causes of product failure. This role requires proficiency in a wide range of troubleshooting tools, equipment and techniques, and must be able to introduce new analytical and troubleshooting capabilities to the organization as needed.

     

    The ideal candidate will have 5 – 10 years of experience in an electrical engineering capacity within an electronics / technology organization, and a bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering. He or she will possess an extreme passion for solving complex technical problems, as this role is focused on Crestron’s most pressing and urgent product quality issues.     Responsibilities

    • Performing in-depth technical analysis on products to determine why they fail in the field
    • Preparing technical reports that detail the root cause of a product failure trend and provide supporting factual data (QAR Reports)
    • Being a point of leadership and escalation for difficult to solve technical issues
    • Introducing new tools and techniques for technical analysis on non-functioning devices
    • Working with outside laboratories to perform testing on products, parts and components.
    • Providing technical and engineering guidance to other members of the fault analysis team
    • Other related duties as required

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering
    • Minimum 5 years’ experience in an Electrical Engineering role involving deep circuit analysis and debugging
    • Expertise with a wide variety of electronic troubleshooting tools, equipment and techniques
    • Technical report writing and outstanding written communication
    • PCB assembly knowledge, and knowledge of electro-mechanical assembly is a plus
    • Computer proficiency, including MS Office (Word, PowerPoint and Excel)
    • Knowledge of a programming language and basic programming concepts preferred but not required
    • Knowledge of quality assurance tools and practices preferred but not required
    • Limited travel may be required
