    Overview

    Crestron Electronics has an exciting opportunity for a Product Engineer within the manufacturing and operation organization to support all aspects of new product introduction and quality. This is a great time to join a dynamic team in a fast growing organization.

     

    This position reports directly to Quality Engineering, and serves as a key support member of the product development for feature packed commercial electronic devices. The primary responsibility is to anticipate design, manufacturing and quality concerns by participating in design meetings and analyzing design documents. When a potential issue is detected, this individual will work with various organizations, including Design Engineering, Manufacturing and Quality, to assess the issue and drive a successful resolution. Using the FMEA process, this individual will record and track such issues until closure.

     

    The successful candidate will be a proactive professional with outstanding communication skills and be very comfortable as a key participant on multiple fast-paced design projects. The ability to understand design and manufacturing concerns during each stage of the design cycle will be an essential ability, and used continually.

    Responsibilities

    • Evaluate new designs to uncover quality, manufacturability and reliability concerns in advance of high volume production.
    • Advocate quality and reliability during product development and the design review process (including the Prototype and Pilot Production build process).
    • Diligently support design for manufacturability, cost, reliability and quality.
    • Review product assembly structure, assembly drawings and BOM requirements for quality, for in-house production and at Contract Manufacturers (CM’s).
    • Review validation test plan for new products to verify product functionality and reliability to meet requirements.
    • Apply a step-by-step Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) approach to identify possible product failures during development of new products with an eye toward the manufacturing and assembly process, and product quality.
    • Prepare and present periodic reports of specific quality and manufacturing concerns to management, related to critical new product launches.
    • Review and validate manufacturing and test processes for new products.
    • Review prototype and pilot production product builds (and early production runs), providing oversite and Quality Engineering support in all areas.

    Qualifications

    • 3+ years of experience in an engineering role effecting change and improvement.
    • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent Bachelor of Science Degree is required.
    • Experience working with the design, integration, and manufacturing of electronic-mechanical assemblies and one or more of the following; Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Quality Engineering.
    • Solid understanding of how to drive high levels of quality in commercial electro/mechanical products at the design and early production stage.
    • General knowledge of PCB assembly, general PCB quality concerns and PCB test.
    • General knowledge of final assembly processes and high-level assembly test.
    • Outstanding written and verbal communication is essential.
    • Must work well with multiple diverse teams at various levels within the company.
    • Experience with mechanical reliability testing and related equipment is a plus.
    • Must be proficient in Microsoft products, such as Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
    • Excellent problem resolution, judgment, and decision-making abilities.
    • Must be a high-energy, hands-on individual that is self-confident in his/her technical abilities. Must be very detail-oriented and thorough in performing tasks.
    • Ability to manage multiple project workloads and meet deadlines on time
    • The ability to work autonomously and self-manage tasks, schedules and responsibilities is necessary.
    • Must be a self-starter and have a drive to learn new skills, practice continuous improvement, and influence positive change onto processes within the company
    • Travel up to 10%
