    We continue to experience rapid growth as we invest in resources and create new opportunities, as a result, we have exciting opportunities for a polished, proactive, and professional Lead Firmware Engineer to lead our Linux application team.  This role may reside either in Rockleigh, NJ or Plano, TX. We require a creative engineer, who thrives on solving problems and working in a team environment. Our firmware team is looking for a talented and self-motivated manager with strong embedded software development experience who can apply their expertise in our next generation systems.  As a member of the firmware development team, your daily activities will include the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) for new Control Systems, Touchscreens and other Crestron devices as well as handling field escalations with new and legacy products.


    • Direct the activities of firmware engineering group in the design, development, testing and ongoing maintenance of Crestron products using industry best practices, specifically in the areas of networks and security. Continually looks for ways of improving development processes and delivery timelines.
    • Work with Engineering Management teams to define new products and ensure engineering feasibility. Create project specifications to implement new firmware in products.
    • Work with technical support to resolve problems in the field with existing products firmware.
    • Provides technical leadership to assigned product families to ensure architectural and design correctness.
    • Hire, motivate and manage a cohesive development team of firmware engineers to establish and meet aggressive project commitments and timeline deliverables. 
    • Actively participate in activities of firmware engineering group in design, development, testing and maintenance of embedded products and strive in improving development process and delivery timeline.
    • Lead a talented cross functional team to solve design issues.
    • Code, unit test and participate in code reviews.
    • Responsible for design and implementation of new device features on multiple platforms
    • Responsible for integrating and controlling 3rd party applications on multiple platforms
    • Special projects as assigned



    • Must have at least 3 years’ experience leading a team of engineers  
    • BS/MS in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering is required
    • A minimum of 15 years of proven experience developing and debugging embedded software for Android/Linux
    • Must have strong Java, C, & C++ skills
    • Must have experience with: 

    o             Hardware and software abstraction

    o             File system operations

    o             Multi-threaded and multi-process architectures

    o             Socket programming

    o             Resource constrained processors (e.g. single core ARM)

    • Experience with communication networks and protocols (e.g. USB, Ethernet, TCP/IP, etc.) are required
    • Experience with the Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) is beneficial
    • Experience with MJPEG/H264 streaming video methods/protocols is beneficial

    Other Skills:

    • Must have strong written and verbal communication skills detail
    • Must be persistent, possess strong problem-solving skills, and be willing to work with others to find solutions that avoid project stalls
    • Must be responsible, self-motivated, and creative, have a solid work ethic and have a desire to produce a quality product
    • Must have the ability to work in a fast moving environment
    • Must possess a strong team orientation
