The Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) will play a key role in improving, creating and maintaining product and supplier quality. The SQE is responsible for implementing and to upholding the Supplier Quality management system processes by addressing quality issues in a reactive and proactive approach; lead/facilitate and help improve the supplier’s ongoing contributions relative to quality and cost, ensure systems and processes are in place to meet Creston requirements, ISO and best industry standards. The SQE will seek to understand issues causing disruption in the assembly facility and undertake actions with suppliers to ensure root cause closure, exercising SCAR’s, FMEA’s, 8D’s, and all appropriate Six Sigma methodologies to mitigate variation in supplier’s processes, warranty/customer returns, manufacturing/schedule disruption or failure.


The SQE will be accountable for the overall quality of suppliers, supplier quality system, PPM, and deliverables – resulting in a seamless supply to Crestron, our partners (CM’s) and its customers. This position will be required to travel to suppliers (domestic and international) to audit and foster a good working relationship and to ensure suppliers are working to agreed procedures and standards - producing detailed reports on supplier performance monitoring quality, cost and delivery and where appropriate will initiate quality plans / improvement programs.


  • This unique role will provide immediate support to our contract manufacturers from a Raw material and OEM perspective. Responsible for driving and sustaining supplier quality program strategies and initiatives; including score carding, closed loop corrective actions, non-conformance management, supplier surveillance, auditing, risk identification/mitigation efforts, and value engineering.
  • Responsible for ensuring our raw material and OEM suppliers are operating within an optimal quality performance level. In collaboration with Strategic Sourcing, establish and monitor supplier performance metrics, evaluating trends and providing data analysis to the Quality team and management as required. Recommend suppliers for Crestron’s supplier improvement program, qualification and/or disqualification based upon quality and delivery performance.

  • Facilitate the qualification of new and existing suppliers to be added (or removed) from the Approved Vendor List (AVL), ensuring that Crestron’s supplier qualification requirements are met. Manage the ongoing maintenance of the AVL ensuring that all the monitoring and control requirements within Crestron’s supplier management procedures are met and records in support of the system are maintained. This may require performance and QMS audits of suppliers at regular intervals and in line with QMS requirements, as well as for cause, in order to evaluate competency and adherence to established processes, lead technical initiatives and identify and drive continuous improvement. Utilization tools, including but not limited to (Six Sigma DMAIC, APQP, FMEA, PPAP, SPC, 8D Root Cause Analysis and Lean Manufacturing concepts)

  • Collaborate with the Manufacturing and Quality Engineering to fully understand any/all requirements in support of the manufacture, processing, packaging, purchasing, and delivery of product, material, non-verifiable processes, components or services, identifying critical elements and associated acceptance criteria. Effectively translate these requirements to the supplier, assessing their capabilities and providing technical support and guidance as needed, to ensure the procedures, testing methods and processes will meet or exceed all quality and delivery requirements.



  • Must have a minimum of 3-5 years of quality and/or supplier quality experience in a manufacturing / Assembly environment (preferably in raw material fabrication (plastic and/or metal manufacturing).
  • Must have a at least a Bachelors of Science degree from an accredited institution in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, or Equivalent Discipline)
  • Proficient with a personal computer and highly proficient using MS Office software applications including Outlook, Word, and Excel, Access, PowerPoint.
  • The candidate must be high-energy, hands-on individual with strength of convictions, a self-confident leader who, in part due to his/her personal presence, style and demeanor, effectively sells ideas and solutions to others. Moreover, this person must have unquestioned integrity. 
  • Travel - 25% and/or as needed. 
  • Proficient understanding of the Corrective /​Preventive Action (CAPA) process, process verification/validation, and statistics fundamentals. The SQE will also possess excellent methodical problem resolution techniques, judgment and decision making skills, and thorough working knowledge of Quality systems methods and practices. 
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priories concurrently (must possess robust organizational and time management skills). 
  • Candidate must also be able to demonstrate outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment. 
  • Must understand and possess the manufacturing fundamentals of the following (but not limited to) commodities: plastic injected parts, casted and extruded metal, stamped sheet metal fabrication, PCB and PCBA’s
  • High proficiency in spreadsheet and statistics (report formatting, graphing, and formula a calculation generation), database, presentation and project management tools (i.e. Excel, Minitab, etc).
  • Ability to read and understand assembly drawings, schematics, and Engineering Change Notices for the purpose of specific inspection criteria and evaluation.
  • Bilingual (English / Spanish) preferred but not necessary.
