    Overview

     

     

    We have an exciting opportunity for a Value Engineer at our Corporate Headquarters in Rockleigh, NJ. We are seeking a proactive and professional individual with a mechanical engineering background to support Crestron’s New Product Introduction, Manufacturing & Operations organization.  In this role, you will analyze Crestron's highest cost components/parts and identify opportunities for cost savings with our suppliers.  

     

    The ideal candidate will be detail oriented, organized, familiar with interpreting engineering specifications and possess comprehensive knowledge of tooling processes for Custom Engineered Components (sheet metal, plastics, and castings) as well as familiarity with Printed Circuit Boards. Excellent communication skills are essential for collaborating in both our global and regional markets. This position interfaces with our external supply base, Engineering, Project Management, Purchasing, and other Operations teams. 

     

    Responsibilities

     

    • Perform organized function-focused/cost-focused study analysis to identify non-contributing (non-value added) cost of the product, the process and the procedures to achieve requirements at the lowest total cost over the life of the project and the product
    • Conduct cost investigations to document the ROI including capital investment, system changes, and improved costs, cycle time, mold life and material benefits
    • Works directly with our supply base and our SSC APAC team to document and publish a schedule for tooling of Custom Engineered Components
    • Communicates with our supply base and our SSC APAC team on the status of tool fabrication, tooling trials, and sample shipments
    • Maintains tooling schedule with dates, deliverables and action items; tracks the flow of information from Purchasing, Engineering and Project Management to external partners; documents and publishes open or pending items
    • Communicates with Purchasing and Project Management to ensure sample QTY requests (outside the defined standard) are clearly and accurately documented via PO
    • Supports the design and deployment of advanced data management tools, including a database for tooling RFQ responses and scheduling details
    • Reviews and responds to internal and external inquiries regarding tooling status and potential risks to schedule
    • Engages with our supply base and SSC APAC to provide proactive process improvement support; identifies opportunities to streamline the information sharing process between internal and external teams
    • Identifies, evaluates and implements actions that will not alter product functionality/performance, but increases integrity, offers measurable and sustainable savings through (but not limited to) materials, design, process or packaging
    • Ensure that the specific needs and constraints of the supply chain are effectively addressed during project execution
    • Work with Suppliers, SSC APAC and other relevant sources to identify, research, develop and apply new technology to products and processes
    • Establish and manage project schedules and requirements
    • Build relationships with suppliers & CM(s) to ensure that purchased parts, and assemblies meet Crestron Requirements, schedule and costs
    • Interface with suppliers to ensure capacity and continuity of supply as well as to resolve issues during the quoting and production process
    • Collaborate with the cross-functional sourcing team to evaluate and communicate risks, supplier competency and capacity constraints to meet project needs and schedules and to expedite deliverables

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or Manufacturing required
    • Minimum of 4 years of relevant Engineering and/or Value Analysis experience within the electronics (electro-mechanical) production/manufacturing industry
    • Must be proficient with Microsoft products including MS Project, PowerPoint, Excel and Word
    • Knowledge of SAP or equivalent ERP systems
    • Proven leadership skills and ability to work effectively with Customers, Suppliers and various stakeholders
    • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a dynamic local and international team environment
    • Effective presentation skills
    • Systematic and organized procedural decision-making capabilities
    • Excellent problem resolution, judgment and decision making abilities
    • Experience in manufacturing processes related to plastic injection molding, metal CNC machining/milling, sheet-metal/stamping and extruded fabrication is strongly preferred. Printed circuit board assembly and final finish product assembly experience is also preferred
    • Ability to travel 5% of the time
